ABOUT LIA BOOTH: Lia spent four years singing in advanced vocal jazz ensemble Singcopation under the direction of Bruce Rogers and one year singing with Cal State Long Beach advanced vocal jazz ensemble Pacific Standard Time under the direction of accomplished vocalist and session singer, Christine Guter. She specializes in the Great American Songbook, sings in French, Spanish, Portuguese, as well as English, and takes a dry, expressive approach to her interpretation of the tunes she sings. She regularly performs at venues across Southern California, and currently holds two residencies where she performs once a month: The Brass Lamp in Long Beach with her own trio The Spare Buttons and Port Restaurant and Bar in Newport Beach as a duo with pianist Bradley Young. A twice named CalJAS Student Scholarship recipient, we are proud to feature Lia at this concert.

ABOUT BRADLEY YOUNG:  Currently based in Los Angeles, Bradley can be seen setting the mood at many of his favorite romantic jazz nightspots, including The Pilsner Room, The Aldabella Winery, The Port, Cook’s Chapel, and the world famous Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach. He also created a stir at the Newport Beach Jazz Party with his “Tribute to Gene Harris” (one of Bradley’s favorite pianists), featuring guitar legends Ron Eschete and Frank Potenza, along with sax great Scott Hamilton, Luther Hughes on bass, and Paul Kreibich on drums.  Bradley’s talent also shines brilliantly on Enja Records’ recently pressed “Chet In Chicago”, a previously unreleased studio session featuring jazz trumpet legend Chet Baker, with Bradley on piano. Recorded in 1986, the CD also features Larry Gray on bass and the late Rusty Jones on drums. This superb recording is available on Amazon and E-Bay. This will be Bradley’s second CalJAS House Concert performance.
ABOUT BENJAMIN MAY :  The son of classically trained parents, Benjamin is one of the most in demand players in LA . His credits include gigs with Rosemary Clooney, Anita O’Day and the great Joe Pass to name just a few. CalJAS is proud to once again present this fine musician.
